The Memorial of the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1848‒49

Designed by István Krizsán, the memorial made of limestone from Süttő and the cast iron cannon was erected in 1998, on the 150th anniversary of the Revolution. An initiative of the Büki Faluvédő- és Szépítő Egyesület (Association for the Preservation and Embellishment of the Village of Bük), the memorial, which was financed by donations from the locals. The letters on the memorial were inscribed by master stonemason Ferenc Popovits and the cannon was purchased from folk traditionalists of the town of Pápa. The work of art originally standing in front of the World War I & II Heroes’ Memorial was relocated to another part of the church park in 2014.
